Frank Pompei, founder and CEO at Exergen, is a manufacturer of sensors, thermometers and scanners. His MIT education is what enabled him to create a successful business, mindful of the financial aid package. He says that his parents would not have sent him to MIT with their factory worker wages.MIT and beyond: Thriving. Frank says that I recall the academics being challenging, but also interesting, and sometimes even fun. Inventing was easy for me and MIT prepared my well. Exergens trademark temporal thermometer uses an infrared sensor that he invented and patented after years spent studying and experimentation. He explains that there are 5,000 years worth of human history which uses the forehead to determine body temperature. Exergen's 2020 expansion will see an increase in manufacturing capacity by more than fourfold.Scholarships are a way to give back.
