Two Ways to Retain AAdvantage Elite Status Through January 2023 - The Gate

American Airlines AAdvantage frequent flier loyalty program members who have earned elite status, but have not re-qualified for it, will be able to keep their status until January 31, 2023.There are two ways to keep your AAdvantage Elite status through January 2023You can either spend with an eligible AAdvantage card or fly as a passenger on eligible flights.Fly on American Airlines or one of its Partner AirlinesIf you earn $2,000.00 or more Elite Qualifying dollars on eligible airline tickets between Wednesday, September 1, 2021, and Friday, December 31, 20,21, your AAdvantage Gold status, Platinum, Platinum Pro, Executive Platinum, or Executive Platinum elite status will be retained.If you earn $2,000.00 per week on eligible flights marketed and operated by American Airlines or its elite partner airlines, the AAdvantage Gold or Platinum, Platinum Pro or Executive Platinum status levels, your status will remain in effect until Tuesday, January 31, 2023.This promotion does NOT affect members who are elite members or members who have met the qualifications for elite status in 2022. This promotion does not apply to bonus Elite Qualifying dollars that were granted in connection with any other promotions.Requirements for elite status in AAdvantage ProgramThis promotion is available to flights marketed or operated by American Airlines, its oneworld partners and JetBlue Airways. This promotion applies to eligible published, purchased fares that were flown between Wednesday September 1, 2021, and Friday December 31, 2021. Not eligible are flights that were flown prior to Wednesday, September 1, 2021. This promotion will not be applied to flights that do not earn AAdvantage Elite qualifying dollars. This promotion is not available for basic economy fares, award tickets and certain partner airline flights.Earn Elite Qualifying Dollars from Partner AirlinesWithin 24 hours of the completion of this promotion, your membership account will be updated.Spend $15,000.00 to get an eligible AAdvantage credit cardYour AAdvantage Gold or Platinum, Platinum Pro, Executive Platinum elite status will be retained through Tuesday, January 31, 2023 if you spend $15,000 on eligible purchases made with an eligible AAdvantage card between Thursday July 15, 2021, and Monday November 15, 2021.If the primary cardholder spends at least $15,000.00 in United States Dollars on eligible purchases with Citi / AAdvantage or AAdvantage Aviator credit or AAdvantage cards issued abroad between Thursday, July 15, 2021 to Monday, November 15, 20,21, the AAdvantage Gold or Platinum, Platinum Pro or Executive Platinum elite status levels, the cardholder's AAdvantage Gold or Platinum status will be retained. Based on your credit limit and ability to keep it, this offer may not be possible.Requirements for elite status in AAdvantage ProgramYou can combine purchases from all eligible AAdvantage credit card cards to reach $15,000.00 to maintain AAdvantage Gold Platinum, Platinum Pro, or Executive Platinum elite status in 2022. You may not be eligible if your credit card account is shut down for any reason.SummaryIf you retain Executive Platinum or Platinum Pro Elite status through this promotion you won't be eligible for the 2022 elite choice rewards unless and until you have met the 2021 elite qualification requirements for Executive Platinum Pro elite level status.This promotion offers elite status for a limited time and cannot be transferred. To qualify for the offer, you must be a loyal American Airlines AAdvantage frequent flyer loyalty program member in good standing. American Airlines reserves the right not to cancel or modify this promotion.Status retention is not possible for temporary elite status that has been granted by promotion.American Airlines reserves all rights to modify the AAdvantage program's terms and conditions at anytime without notice. The program can also be ended with six months notice.
