Queer softball series Slo Pitch is up to bat for 2 seasons at IFC

As Pride Month draws to a close, it's a great time to announce that IFC has acquired Slo Pitch web comedy series for two seasons. Slo Pitch, a mockumentary-style comedy series produced by Canadian production company Shaftesbury follows the misadventures and over-invested Coach Joanne, as well as her queer softball team, The Brovaries.AdvertisementSlo Pitch is a comedy with a humorous twist that highlights a group of women who are obsessed with beer and championships. IFC Blake Callaway GM stated that this women's softball team celebrates all aspects of the LGBTQ+ experience, except winning. We are thrilled to have this series picked up during Pride Month, as we continue our search for new, undiscovered creative voices to be featured on IFC.Each season consists of 10 10-minute episodes. Season one follows the Brovaries underdog team as they fight their way to the title game in their highly competitive beer league. They are known for their ineptness and losing attitude, but they take the league seriously when they face off against the Toronto Blue Gays. In season 2, which is shooting this summer, the team renews its championship hopes. This arc coincides with Joanne's wedding preparations.Slo Pitch stars Kirsten Ramussen (Band Ladies), Gwenlyn Camyn (Barbelle), Karen Knox, Lane Webber and Kaitlin Alexander. Khadijah Roberts Abdullah, Amanda Cordner and Chelsea Muirhead are also featured. Slo Pitch is executive produced and produced by Paige Haight. The web series features a female-led creative team that is non-binary and a 50% BIPOC cast. Seventy percent identify as non-binary or female cast members, while 80% identify as LGBTQ+.
