The Pacific Northwest is a magical region with many hidden treasures, especially in Oregon. It is a place that I associate with Portland's hipster charms and the lush mountains to the east. But, it only represents a small fraction of Oregon's many treasures. This article reviews the coast and all it has to offer. It also explores the beautiful hiking spots and quiet seaside towns. You will find some camping spots and accommodations that are budget-friendly. I have also jotted down other places you might want to visit. Are you ready to go on an adventure? This is your ultimate guide to Oregon's coast, day by day.Day 1: Astoria - Just two hours from Portland lies Astoria, a beautiful waterfront city. This historic location is at the Columbia River's mouth. It was once a base for Lewis and Clark and it is still an ideal place to start your explorations. Fort Stevens State Park and Lewis & Clark National Historical Park. Follow the example of the explorers who have gone before you. You can fish, camp, and explore Fort Stevens State Park. Both parks can be reached in about 15 minutes. Seaside Seaside is another great base for a beachside resort with all the amenities. You can stroll the promenade and then go kayaking. You'll find beautiful hiking trails that run along the coast at Ecola State Park, 20 minutes from Seaside. The natural beauty alone is worth the visit. But 80s children are sure to enjoy a special treat. You can also find Goonies films here. There are occasionally tours. Goonies will film locations throughout Astoria, Cannon Beach and elsewhere so make sure to allow extra time for fans. Cannon Beach is my favorite place to stay for overnight. There are many small bed and breakfasts, restaurants, shops, and coffee shops. Although it's a touristy area, it's a great spot for summer fun. We tried the local beers at Macgregors Whiskey Bar and Public Coast Brewery. Locals and tourists love Corbins Restaurant's fresh seafood and Castaways' delicious breakfasts. Schooners Cove was our choice of accommodation. It was a motel-like atmosphere, but it was clean and comfortable. Cannon Beach, Oregon: Ocean LodgeInn at Haystack RockHotel Cannon BeachDay 2: Cannon Beach. If you're starting your day in Cannon Beach make sure to stop by Sleepy Monk Coffee Roasters, who offer amazing coffee and delicious pastries. After you're fueled up with caffeine and sugar, head down to Haystack Rock. It is a short walk of less than ten minutes and it makes for a great photo opportunity. Arcadia Beach Arcadia Beach State Rec Site is located two miles south from Cannon Beach. It's a beautiful spot for a day on the beach. Fun fact: This beach is famous for its singing sands. When the conditions are right, sometimes the sand can make a violin-like sound. Oswald West State ParkDo you long for the authentic Pacific Northwest feel? Explore Oswald West State Park's quiet beaches and wander amongst the ferns. The Jurassic Park-esque vibes emanating from the trail to Blumenthal Falls were a hit with us. It has a beautiful, wild beauty that winds along the coast.Tillamook I am one of the many generations who have fallen in love over the past 110 year with this creamery. Visit for a tour and stay for the delicious ice cream and cheese. Newport Newport has been a popular holiday spot since the 19th century. It is known for its beautiful coastline and exceptional bird- and seal watching. We visited Newport Brewing Company, where we were impressed by their craft beers and pub food. We didn't have enough time so I recommend spending at most an afternoon at the beach. Recommendations for Newport, Oregon: The WhalerOcean HouseDay 3: Florence. Florence is the perfect destination for beach lovers. It boasts miles of beaches and rolling sand dunes. Explore the boutiques and antique shops while enjoying small-town charm. Coos Bay is known for its waterfalls in Oregon's Coast Range. North Bend, Charleston, and Coos Bay make up Oregon's much-loved Adventure Coast. The area is known for its beautiful neighborhoods and incredible natural beauty. There are also many spots for outdoor adventure. Bandon We discovered the quirky Bandon Wayside Motel & RV Park. We were delighted with our new motel rooms and the RV spots, as well as places to park cars and tents. This place is perfect for all year-round hiking, biking, and beach adventures.
