Vanderbilt AD -- Slurs used toward parents at College World Series 'absolutely unacceptable'

OMAHA (Neb. On Tuesday, Candice Storey Lee, Vanderbilt's athletic director, condemned offensive language used against some parents of Commodores players in Game 1 of the College World Series finals.Storey Lee tweeted, "I am deeply disturbed that some of our student athletes parents were subjected racist slurs last night's match." "This is unacceptable and shameful behavior. Such hateful language has no place in our society."It is deeply troubling that some parents of student-athletes were subject to racist slurs last night. Game 2 is scheduled for Tuesday.Kristyna Engdahl is the communications director at TD Ameritrade Park. She said that officials were aware that there was an interaction between the fans and the stadium that involved racist slurs.Engdahl stated that the person or people who used offensive language left the stadium after security personnel were notified. She didn't know if they left the stadium on their own, or were ejected.Engdahl sent an email saying that she strongly condemned the behavior and was shocked to hear it had taken place at TD Ameritrade Park Omaha. "Tonight we will implement additional security measures in order to make sure that everyone feels safe in our stadium.Engdahl stated that officials were speaking to event staff in order to obtain additional information.She wrote, "We stand by the guests who were subjected at this unacceptable and appalling speech and we're deeply sorry for their experience inside our stadium."
