According to POLITICO's recent intelligence bulletin, the Department of Homeland Security warned its law enforcement partners of concerns about violent attacks during the period leading up to the anniversary of the two domestic terror attacks. Monday's bulletin was sent by the department.Although violent extremists don't usually attack dates they consider important, DHS continues its review of publicly available social media in search of explicit threats of violence. This includes the El Paso shooting of 3 August 2019 and the Charlottesville car attack of 12 August 2017, the bulletin states.On August 3, 2019, 22 people were killed when a gunman opened fire on a Walmart in El Paso. According to law enforcement, the shooter claimed that he planned to kill Mexicans. He allegedly had posted an online racist manifesto citing the Christchurch massacre, which was a terrorist attack on two mosques in New Zealand, as his inspiration. A white supremacist drove into protestors against racism in Charlottesville, Va. In that attack, he killed one woman.
