This Sopranos Story is reimagined in a Star Wars-esque trailer. Michael Gandolfini, who plays his father's iconic role, is young Tony Soprano leaving Satriales Pork Store to walk the streets of Newark.AdvertisementThis trailer looks like Tony Soprano Origins. It also features the subtitle A Sopranos Story. The Many Saints Of Newark does not reflect the series. Many of the things that people love about The Sopranos have been lost. There is gangland violence in New Jersey, New Jersey street corners and Tony asking Tony, "Whatd you say?" But the tracksuits and hair and gabagool memes from Sopranos are absent. Alan Taylor, the director of Sopranos, Mad Men and Game Of Thrones, is a TV veteran who treats his fans to the same great times that Tony was looking for in the 1960s. Gary Cooper might not be there, but Leslie Odom Jr., Ray Liotta, and Jon Bernthal are all available. Some other notable roles include Livia Soprano's Vera Farmiga, Cory Stoll, Uncle Junior, First Cows John Magaro and Silvio. Made For Loves Billy Magnussen plays Paulie.The trailer, as promised, focuses on Tony's early days as a failure student learning from Dickie Moltisanti (Alessandro Nivola), one Tonys fathers henchmen. Here's the summary:Young Anthony Soprano is a young man growing up in Newark's most turbulent era. He becomes a man as rival gangsters rise up to challenge the dominance of DiMeo crime families over the increasingly racially divided city. Dickie Moltisanti is his uncle, and he struggles to balance his personal and professional responsibilities. His influence on his nephew will make him the powerful mob boss he later learns to be: Tony Soprano.The Many Saints of Newark makes its way to theaters and onto HBO Max (where they will stream it for 31 days) October 1, 2021.
