T-Mobile offers a low-stakes, free way to test its network. It is available for 30 days without any additional equipment. Light Reading identified that T-Mobile's existing Test Drive program works over eSIM on compatible iPhones. You simply need to download the app and follow the instructions to activate the trial with the eSIM. No billing information is required. You will not be changing your existing carrier plan or phone number. However, you will be using T-Mobile data from your device.Since 2014, the Test Drive program has existed in some form. The latest version, which is still available for those who cannot use the eSIM feature, will give you a free Wi-Fi hotspot that you can connect with your existing phone to test the network. The new eSIM version provides the same trial (30 days or 30GB depending on which you choose) but with less hassle.T-Mobile states that the eSIM option was introduced as a pilot program last week. It is currently only available for unlocked iPhones with XS or newer models that run iOS 14.5 or greater. During your trial, you'll have access to T Mobiles 5G network if you own an iPhone 12-gen device. It was easy to do. Just follow the prompts and you are good to go. This is a lot more convenient than visiting a store or carrying your Wi-Fi hotspot. This is especially beneficial to T-Mobile as it is looking to make use of its strong 5G spectrum holdings, before Verizon and AT&T begin catching up with each other later in the year with newly acquired frequencies. It would be a great way for T-Mobile to get more customers to test the network and convert immediately.
