HBO Max launches outside the US in 39 new territories

HBO Max launches today in 39 Latin American and Caribbean territories, expanding the service beyond the US and US territories.According to a spokesperson for The Verge, Latin America will launch without an ad-supported plan. Latin America subscribers will be able to choose between a mobile-only plan with SD streaming and five title downloads and a standard plan which supports up to three users concurrently, five personal profiles, 30 title downloads and high-definition streams in HD or 4K. Prices will vary depending on where you live.Today's launch is a way for us to introduce our global platform to millions of Latin American and Caribbean fans, Johannes Larcher (head of HBO Max International) said in a statement.Standard and mobile-only plans will be available for the service's launchThe company stated that it will produce 100 originals in Latin America as part of the rollout. The company also announced that subscribers to UEFA Champions League events in Brazil and Mexico will be able to access them later in the year. According to a spokesperson for HBO Max, local originals are currently only being made in Latin America. There will not be any Caribbean originals.The company offers the service at a discounted rate of 50% to all new subscribers in Latin America, Caribbean and North America if they sign up prior to July 31st.In a press release, HBO Max will also be available to US subscribers who are traveling to these new regions. This is provided they are on an ad-free service tier. Latin America-based subscribers can also stream HBO Max while traveling in the US. HBO Max will launch in Europe as part of its global expansion later this year.
