Derek Chauvin close to plea deal with authorities on civil rights charges in George Floyd killing

According to local reports, Derek Chauvin is close to agreeing to a plea agreement with federal prosecutors. He was convicted of the murder of George Floyd as a Minneapolis police officer.Multiple sources have confirmed that Chauvin was cryptically referring to the deal in his brief remarks at Friday's sentencing hearing."Due to legal issues, I'm unable to give a complete formal statement. ... I send my condolences for the Floyd family. Chauvin stated that there will be more information in the future.
