WWE Rumors on Vince McMahon, WWE Draft; Samoa Joe Talks WWE Release, Return

Ethan Miller/Getty ImagesBleacher Report brings you the most recent news from WWE Universe.Vince McMahon reportedly Scouts TalentVince McMahon, the WWE chairman, is said to be looking closely at potential talent for the main roster amid rumors that NXT could bring in more talent.McMahon, h/t Marc Middleton from Wrestling Inc., has been scouting at the WWE Performance Center "as part of a major Scouting effort to replenish WWE’s main roster which has been hit with releases and repeat bookings."Although WWE has a strong financial position due to its TV contracts, there are indications that the product's direction is not being liked by fans. The problem with WWE booking over the years is the constant reliance upon rematches for feuds that don’t seem to have any justification.Roman Reigns, for example, defeated Edge and Daniel Bryan at Wrestlemania 37. He stacked both his opponents on top of one another for the pinfall. This left no doubt that he was superior to both.Friday night, Edge was back on Smackdown and is reviving his feud against Reigns. This is because WWE has made the Head of the Table exterminate all other babyfaces on the roster. There's no one left to fight for the title at Money in the Bank.McMahon had previously promised to shake things up, and not rely on rematches. Instead, he will fall back to his old pattern of booking.WWE has so much talent that it doesn't seem impossible for him to make a difference and bring some excitement to the organization.WWE Draft UpdateThere is still much talk about the draft in the future regarding the current status of WWE's main roster.Andrew Zarian, Mat Men Pro Wrestling Podcast, previously reported that the draft was likely to occur between Aug. 30th and September 3.PW Insider (h/t Middleton) reports that several NXT Superstars have been doing dark matches on Raw, SmackDown and other channels in recent weeks so officials can get a better view of them before they call them up to the main roster.NXT's stars have featured in dark matches recently with Scarlett and Bronson Reed, as well as Shotzi Blackheart and Karrion Kross. If WWE wants Scarlett and Kross to be on the main roster, it would make sense for them to be called up during the draft. Since May 2020, he's been a dominant force in NXT.The whole presentation of Kross & Scarlett is one the best in NXT. After he beat Pete Dunne and Kyle O'Reilly, Johnny Gargano, Adam Cole and Adam Cole in a Fatal 5-Way Match at NXT Takeover, In Your House, there is no clear contender for the title.NXT's breakout stars in 2013 were Reed and Blackheart. Their star is clearly rising, so it makes sense to maximize their value as part of the main roster as soon possible.Samoa Joe on WWE Release and ComebackSamoa Joe was released from WWE in April after he was one of 10 men who were released. This made for an interesting two-month period.Joe was William Regal's enforcer and returned to the company two weeks ago in NXT. Mike Johnson from PW Insider reported Triple H was the one who led the effort to resign the NXT champion.Joe appeared on Out of Character with Ryan Satin podcast. (h/t Drew Rice of Wrestling Inc.). Joe described his release as a "weird situation" that began with John Laurinaitis, the Head of Talent Relations at WWE."Johnny [Ace] called, and I thought it would be a rare call from Johnny. "Hey Johnny, how are you doing? What's your status? He said, "Hey, listen, we're going have to release you form your contract." I was like, "Ok. That was cool. Johnny replied, "Hey Joe! We think the best of you and would love for you to come back." And I was like, "All right, Johnny."Joe said that Triple H called Joe "a few hours later" to inform him that he wanted him to come back."Then, we had a short conversation. It was basically, 'Give me a bit of your time, I'll put together a package, and we'll soon be talking.' I replied, "All right, that's perfectly fine. That's fine with me. It led me to NXT."Joe has not competed in wrestling since February 2020, when he was injured during a commercial shoot.Although it is not clear if Joe will ever be medically cleared to wrestle again in WWE, Satin asked him if he wanted to resume his in-ring career.Ring Rust Radio has all the latest wrestling news.
