Ray MacDonnell, one of the original cast members for "All My Children", has passed away. TMZ confirmed this.According to the Westchester County Medical Examiner, the veteran TV and stage actor died in hospice care in Chappaqua on June 9, according to reports. The cause of his death is not known.Ray began his long career on TV after he had already made a name for himself as a stage performer. As a Fulbright scholar, he attended London's Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts.His TV career began in 1953. He would appear on shows like "Robert Montgomery Presents", "The Jack Benny Program," and "Producers Showcase."He was then cast as Phillip Capice, his first soap character in 1961. In 1970, he moved to "All My Children" and began playing Joe Martin. Joe Martin is a patriarch for one of the show’s central families.Talk about longevity... Ray was on the 'AMC Channel' from 2003 to 2013, and received a Daytime Emmy Award for Lifetime Achievement in 2004.Ray was a soap star but Ray also made time for Broadway. From 1966 to 1979, he starred opposite Angela Lansbury in "Mame" and Ann Miller in "Mame," which won the Tony Award.Patricia, his wife, and his three children Kyle, Daniel, and Sarah are his survivors.Ray was 93.
