Picking the Right Grocery Delivery Service at Disney World

Please see our Advertiser Disclosure and Editorial Notice here.My family stayed last month in a Disney Vacation Club villa at Disneys Beach Club Resort. The full kitchen is another big advantage. We can save a lot on food costs at Disney World by cooking our own breakfasts and dinners.Even if we don't stay in condos, it is easy to use the microwaves and small refrigerators in regular rooms to cook our own meals. For shorter trips, I pack oatmeal and breakfast bars. For longer trips, however, you will need to purchase food at the destination.Given the rising cost of renting a car, my family prefers not to rent one. Groceries delivered to your hotel are a time-saver and stress-free way to stock up on food. For our recent Disney World trip, I researched several options for grocery delivery.Disney World Grocery Delivery OptionsGarden Grocer: This was the first grocery delivery service before grocery delivery became a reality. Garden Grocer was my first choice for a nine-day Disney vacation. It worked flawlessly over a decade ago. Garden Grocery charges $14 delivery for orders less than $200. There is a minimum of $40. Next-day orders are subject to an additional $20 fee and same-day orders are subject to a $30 fee. Although Garden Grocer is trustworthy, I have found individual item prices to be the most costly.Walmart Grocery Delivery: It is very easy to use Walmart grocery delivery from home. Prices are the same as in stores. If you don't have a membership, there is a $35 minimum purchase and delivery fees of $8-10 per order. Walmart does not allow you to order alcohol or prepared meals from delis.Amazon Prime Now: This option makes it easy for many people who already have Amazon accounts. This is possible because Amazon has partnered with Whole Foods. Orders over $35 qualify for free delivery I have found the prices high and the choice limited.Instacart is a service that uses personal shoppers to keep you informed via text about your order. You have the option to choose from Target, Publix, and Aldi. You can order from multiple stores at once and the minimum order is $10. Instacart delivers alcohol from grocery stores and deli-fresh prepared food. You won't know what the fees are until you pay. They vary depending on when you place your order and what time it is. Shipt is very similar.Additional Options: Dizzy Dolphin Delivery and Deliveries by Dee Magical Vacation Grocers, Vacation Grocery Delivery and wegoshopMy Choice: InstacartThis trip I created a grocery list in both Garden Grocer as well as Instacart. Instacart was cheaper for every item.Instacart also allowed me to order prepared deli food from Publix, which was a great advantage. I ordered some fresh salads and fried chicken the night we arrived. It was much cheaper and more delicious than the fast-food restaurant at our resort. Instacart was the obvious choice for me and my family over Garden Grocery. Is Instacart the best grocery delivery service? Perhaps not. Instacart is a platform that allows you to choose your shoppers. Some prefer to work with a company that has a consistent staff and reviews. My advice? Don't think too much about it. You're on vacation. Compare prices from a few and pick one to call it a day.Additional ConsiderationsIf you aren't there to pick up your groceries, Disney resort hotels can store them (and refrigerate the necessary items). Bell services will deliver your groceries directly to your room for a $6 charge. There is no charge if you collect your groceries directly from bell services.Be realistic about the amount of food you can eat in your room before you place an order. Sometimes the temptation of good restaurants can overpower the desire for homemade sandwiches. I tend to order too much, and Im working on that.Last but not least, remember that it can be difficult to carry a lot of food and water bottles into the park. You should plan how the load will be distributed and who will be carrying it.Are you a Disney World guest who orders groceries?
