Uttarakhand postpones Char Dham Yatra till further orders

Save imageIn compliance with the Uttarakhand High Court's order, the Uttarakhand government postponed Char Dham Yatra until further orders on June 29. In this regard, the state government issued a revised SOP.This was just a day after Uttarakhand allowed Char Dham Yatra to be conducted in two phases. The first phase was set to begin on July 1st, while the second was set to begin July 11.The state government issued new COVID-19 guidelines to the Char Dham Yatra, despite the High Court's refusal to hold it this year. It decided to begin the phase of the pilgrimage despite the court's warning.The government has made it mandatory that all yatra participants must submit a COVID-19-negative report. Rudraprayag residents, Chamoli and Uttarkashi have received the SOPs.In accordance with the orders of the Uttarakhand High Court, the Uttarakhand Government has delayed the Char Dham Yatra until further orders. In the first phase, Uttarkashi residents will be permitted to visit Yamunotri or Gangotri. All residents of the state are allowed to participate in the second phase.On June 28, the Uttarakhand High Court had overturned the decision of state Cabinet to allow Char Dham Yatra with a restricted number of pilgrims. It also ordered live streaming for Char Dham shrines.The court requested that the government file the affidavit once more by July 7.
