Nikon's Z FC is a film camera revival in mirrorless form

Nikon's latest Z-series mirrorless camera is all about retro style. According to Nikon, the Z FC (officially called Z fc) is designed to recall the FM2 film SLR of the 80s. It features dedicated dials that allow for exposure compensation, shutter speed, ISO, shutter speed and ISO.This approach is very similar to Nikon's DF full-frame DSLR, a retro-styled DSLR Nikon released in 2013. The DF was larger than the film cameras it was based on. The Z FC features a 20.9-megapixel APSC sensor. There is no SLR mirror or prism. This means that the resulting camera looks much closer to an FM2.The Z FC is a modern, compact camera that has similar specifications to the Z50. The ZFC features a vari-angle touchscreen, OLED electronic viewfinders, USB-C charging, SnapBridge wireless connectivity and, of course, the ability to use it for webcam purposes. The camera can be used in full manual mode, with the dials, but you can also use the switch to activate PASM. A tiny LCD is located on the top plate, which allows you to adjust the aperture. The ISO range is between 100 and 51,200. There's also a hybrid AF system that has 209 points spread across 87 percent. The Z FC can shoot video at up to 4K/30fps, although it is not a focus. The Z FC can use all full-frame lenses native to Z6 and Z7 cameras, but Nikon's DX/APSC lenses are not yet available to make the most of Z FCs small size. Nikon today announced a new prime lens, a 28mm (42mm equivalent), f/2.8. This special edition will be available with styling that resembles an older Nikkor D lens. Along with the Z FC, Nikon will release a silver version its 16-50mm pancake lens. A DX 18-140mm travel Zoom will also be available sometime this year. The ZFC will be available in body only at $959.95, $1,099.95 with silver 16-50mm lenses, and $1,199.95 for the 28mm lens. All three options will come in silver and black late July. Six additional color options will be released by Nikon, which will sell them exclusively through its website.
