They are a leader in hardcore punk but have also been praised for their wide range of modern rock music. Their last album, Time & Space (2018) was a huge success and is still regarded as one the most innovative hardcore records of 2010. Turnstile's signature dish is hardcore and thrash, but their 2018 album adds a melodic and approachable spin to this already strong sound. The band's new EP, Turnstile Love Connection, has been released earlier this week. It features a refined, experimental sound.ADVERTISEMENTThe band's new sound is complemented by some experimental elements. Turnstile Love Connection, which was released as a short film directed and produced by Brendan Yates, the bands vocalist.Turnstile Love Connection is a film that you will find yourself watching a lot of times. It's amazing how the hardcore and clean-cut cinematography complement each other in a unique way. Holiday opens the track with some great groove riffage and then ends with a brutal breakdown section. This is true Turnstile style. The song's title track features shots of the band performing in a degraded sports arena. The A24-esc cinematography is stunning, but the band's quirky antics in each video add character to the production. These songs are sonic masterpieces. They sound great. It is also amazing to see how the band incorporates unconventional rock instrumentation into many of these songs. Turnstile Love Connection is filled with everything from 80s drum machines and lo-fi synths that create a feeling of euphoria. These elements, along with the outstanding performances of each member of the band, really help to prove that Turnstile should be a favorite band in modern rock and aggressive music.
