Some TV owners are now aware that Dolby Vision HDR gaming HDR technology is available on the Xbox Series X consoles. Some 4K HDMI-equipped 4K TVs can handle 120Hz and some can play Dolby Vision, but there wasn't one that could do both.LG now confirms it is the first manufacturer to offer Dolby Vision HDR support at 4K 120Hz on its TVs. This was just weeks after owners started seeing it in updates. Today, LG announced support for the feature on its C1 and G1 OLED TVs.In July, LG will update premium models such as the OLED Z1 series OLED Z99 series, NanoCell NANO99 series TVs and QNED Mini LED QNED9999 series TVs. Additional TV models for Dolby Vision gaming at 60Hz and 120Hz are being tested in 2021, 2020.Although the press release did not mention support for previous years' models, Forbes has been informed by the company that beta software with 4K/120Hz support will be available to all 4K TVs, including those made in CX and BX. No word has been given on any updates for the 2019 OLED TVs.This is all happening before the first DolbyVision HDR-enabled DolbyVision games are made available. We believe this should allow gamers to automatically adjust their brightness and image settings to match their TVs capabilities. The company behind this technology explained that Dolby Vision games map to your Dolby Vision screen as you play. This means that you will see brighter highlights and sharper contrasts, which can be helpful for gamers. However, it is difficult to know how the same applies to other HDR games.Game Dashboard is a floating menu that allows LG owners to configure their TVs and check which settings have been enabled. It can be used on any LG 2021 TV equipped with Game Optimizer. It displays the status of the TV's black stabilizer and low latency and variable refreshrate (VRR), and allows you to flip between settings that are tailored for specific genres. Samsung is the first to offer a game bar on its 2021 TVs. We hope other manufacturers follow this lead.
