Pool, FileAccording to Monte Poole, NBC Sports Bay Area's Monte Poole, Lloyd Pierce, former Atlanta Hawks head coach is a candidate for the Golden State Warriors coaching staff.Poole said that the two sides had spoken and that Pierce was working with Warriors head coach Steve Kerr to prepare for the Summer Olympics in Tokyo.Kerr stated that he would reshuffle his staff during the episode of The TK Show on June 3.He said, via Drew Schiller from NBC Sports Bay Area: "We are now in a situation where we have been together for so many years and we haven't had that type of internal change as we had when Luke Walton assumed the Lakers job. And he took a couple of guys with him.""A staff is not different from a roster. If you feel stale, you will need new blood. You need new energy. After a 14-20 start, the Hawks fired Pierce March 1.Some may see Atlanta's run in the Eastern Conference Finals as a reflection on the 45-year old. Although Pierce was a major reason the Hawks' poor record, it's possible that the franchise would not be in this position now.Danilo Gallinari, Bogdan Bogdanovic and other players sustained injuries. The team struggled to adjust with the additions made in the offseason.Pierce could use a job at Golden State to jumpstart his next coaching gig.Alvin Gentry left the Phoenix Suns in mid-2012-13 and spent one year as an assistant with Los Angeles Clippers, Warriors, before becoming the head coach of the New Orleans Pelicans.Jason Kidd has just turned his two-years with the Los Angeles Lakers into a second chance with the Dallas Mavericks.Pierce spent two-and-a half seasons with the Hawks and also made stops with staffs from the Philadelphia 76ers, Memphis Grizzlies, and Cleveland Cavaliers. He was also with Golden State during the 2010-11 season when Keith Smart was in charge. He is an ideal candidate for either a head coaching or assistant position at the highest level, regardless of whether he plays with the Warriors.
