Meet the odd puppet people from AMC's Ultra City Smiths

Ultra City Smiths Image: AMCWe heard in May that AMC had signed up a surprising amount of celebrities to voice Ultra City Smiths. This stop-motion animated series was created by Steve Conrad (Perpetual Grace), and Stoopid Buddy. It is about the investigation into the disappearance a wealthy man who wants to be mayor of a corrupt city. All of the characters are dolls that were repurposed into adults. Kurtwood Smith is joined by Kristen Bell and DaVine Joy Randolph. Alia Shawkat and Melissa Villaseor are also included. We would awkwardly answer "yes" to any question about the show. It's one of those TV shows.AdvertisementThis was before we even saw the doll characters! We are not convinced this is a TV show. It looks like something the characters would see in a David Lynch movie. They would consider it normal and assume that this is a TV show. This gives the audience the impression that there's something strange going on. Are we getting too long? Are you prepared to face these characters? These characters are for you, whatever your situation.Image: AMCImage - AMCImage : AMCImage : AMC Advertisement. You can skip the ad after one second. This is Conrad's second attempt at this type of thing. He previously made a pilot called Timms Valley with the same basic concept and baby doll characters. However, it featured Chris Pratt and Hank Azaria and Maria Bamford. This page on IMDb is like a peek into an alternate universe in which Elizabeth Banks created a bizarre show about puppets rather than Kristen Bell. It makes the whole thing more bizarre. Is this the prime universe, or an alternate universe? It's all up!
