Honda has finally chosen a name and a precise timing for its first electric SUV. Roadshow reports that the automaker revealed that the EV people-hauler will be named the Prologue when it arrives in 2024. The Acura SUV will also be available sometime in 2024. However, this vague promise suggests that it will not come along with its mainstream counterpart.Although the company isn't giving much information about the Prologue, it did reiterate that both Acura's Prologue and Acura's Acura counterparts will be powered by GM's Ultium battery. The tie-up won't last very long as Honda promises EVs in second half of this decade based upon a new "e.Architecture".The Prologue could be Honda's most significant car in recent history. The company intends to switch completely to electric vehicles by 2040. By 2030, 40 percent of its major-market sales will be powered by batteries or hydrogen fuel cell. To achieve those goals, the brand must offer a wide range of EVs and not just niche models such as the Honda E compact. The Prologue will be the first step in that transition and demonstrate how Honda can move away from combustion engines.
