Good Morning AmericaAt 10:39 p.m., Thursday June 24, Meyers, California, a small town located about 100 miles east from Sacramento, received a report by the El Dorado County Sheriffs Department stating that the bear attacked the man in his home and that the victim had to kill the animal for self-defense. According to the El Dorado County Sheriffs Office, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife found the bear in serious condition and released it. According to local residents, bear sightings are quite common in the area. KGO reported that people from outside of the city are responsible for not taking precautions to prevent incidents such as this.
