Apple releases new trailer for Isaac Asimov series Foundation

Photo of the Foundation: AppleApple still values quality over quantity when it comes to Apple TV+ streaming platforms. This is evident in this trailer for Foundation, the platform's adaptation of Isaac Asimov's sci-fi saga. Last summer's teaser was a collection of short, uncontextual clips that featured people discussing the importance of the books and the show. The new trailer is focused on big sci-fi action as well as big discussions about big ideas. It's impossible to predict if the show is good but Apple can't be accused of just throwing this thing together.AdvertisementIn previous coverage, we mentioned that Apple appears to be taking liberties with this adaptation's plot (is this where it is mentioned that it was written and edited by David S. Goyer? Goyer? The Asimov books are primarily about how to mitigate the effects of the fall of space-empire. In the hopes of keeping society from collapsing over the next millennia it seems that Apple is increasing the drama with spaceship battles and huge sci-fi cities around massive golden statues. Lee Pace plays the emperor (a role he was born to, on TV or in real life), and Jared Harris portrays Hari Seldon, the math genius who discovers a society's behavior and allows him to predict its behaviour, which allows him to predict the future of allowing him to watch the empires to fall. Apple announced the premiere of the show on September 24 exclusively on Apple TV+.
