Some shopping portals offer bonus miles for these items on a daily basis (see Today Only: Get up to 4 bonus miles per $1 Apple Store Purchases). This date was February 1. So I used the AAdvantage eShopping website to earn 4 miles per $1 for my iPhone purchase. But, I did not receive the bonus miles. I completed forms in March and opened an inquiry. It was slow as molasses. I was contacted by AAdvantage Customer Care and told that it was up the merchant to verify the purchase. Every two weeks, Customer Care sent me an apology letter stating that they were still waiting for Apple. After countless emails and nearly 5 months, I finally received an email from Customer Care stating that my transaction was not eligible because I had allegedly modified my order.Apple has completed the transaction research and has informed us that the purchase is no longer eligible for rewards because it was returned or cancelled. Our mall does not allow for returns, adjustments, exchanges or cancellations. Your order may be ineligible for rewards if it is subject to any non-online adjustment, voluntary or not. This could result in a reverse of any previously credited reward. Reward can be reversed, or denied, regardless of the reason for modifications to your order. . . . We recommend you read the merchant terms every time you shop on our site.UCH. I had not modified or altered anything. This was absurd. I replied. I was clearly frustratedThis is wrong. I bought the iPhone, and it was never returned. I bought the iPhone on a day when you offered a bonus for apple purchases. It is unfair that you won't honor my original purchase. After all of that, I was informed by AAdvantage that they would honor my claim and award me bonus miles even though Apple had deemed that my purchase uneligible.Your order was not eligible for Apple but I understand you intended to shop at our mall. My manager was informed and the offer of 4 miles for every dollar spent, which was displayed in our mall at the time of your order, was honored. The expected 3444 miles were added into your account. Apple order #XXX. Please allow up to 3 to 5 business days for your miles to be posted to your shopping account.Although I was happy to finally receive the bonus miles I was entitled, it was a long and tedious process. What number of people would give up and throw in the towel? These aren't uncommon situations. Recently, Discovery Card refused to issue me a $45 credit on my statement for the purchase of Sams Club membership. They didn't even bother to investigate the matter. While I admire the idea of chasing points or deals, I sometimes wonder if it's worth it.One thing that I do know is that it's important to keep track of all these inquiries, take lots notes, persevere and stay focused while remaining level-headed. Do you have similar experiences?Today is one of those days where you can earn extra portal miles or portal points for qualified Apple product purchases made on many shopping portal websites. If you're looking for an Apple product, today could be the day to make a purchase.
