The United Auto Workers chose Monday a finance official to replace the union's president until the June 2022 leadership election.Ray Currie (55), the unions secretary/treasurer was appointed to the top job by the unions board. He will be the president July 1. Rory L. Gamble announced his retirement last week.After a series corruption scandals, Mr. Currie was secretary-treasurer and helped to implement financial and ethics reforms. He also pleaded guilty to two former U.A.W. members. Presidents of the United States, twelve other union officials, and three Fiat Chrysler executives.In a statement, Mr. Currie stated that he would continue to support our commitment to a culture where transparency, reforms, and checks and balances are a part of every day.
