Tottenham open talks to sign Bologna and Japan defender Takehiro Tomiyasu

Tottenham has opened negotiations to sign Bologna defender Takehiro Tomiyasu.Fabio Paratici, Spurs' new managing director for football, has approached the Serie A club to discuss a possible deal with the Japan international.Bologna is said to be looking for Tomiyasu at least 17m (20m), who is equally comfortable at centre-back as right-back, both positions that Spurs managerless want to improve this summer.Serge Aurier's future is uncertain. The Ivory Coast international wants to leave. They have also been trying to strengthen their centre-back position since last summer, despite signing Joe Rodon.Sky Sports News reported that the club is interested in Tariq Lamptey from Brighton and Norwich's Max Aarons for the right-back position.Image: Tomiyasu can play as either a right-back, or centre-back.They like Joachim Andersen at centre-back after his impressive loan spell with Fulham last season and Jannick Vestergaard from Southampton, among others.Tomiyasu played almost the same number of games at right back and centre-back last year, but was more impressive at fullback as the 22-year old scored twice against Udinese and Atalanta.Additionally, he has 23 caps and a goal in Japan. His Bologna contract is currently valid until 2024.
