The Office Ladies podcast recently featured former co-stars, Angela Kinsey and Jenna Fischer discussing the process of choosing the theme song.They reviewed the top three songs, revealed the showrunner Greg Daniels' final theme tune selection, and discussed how James Ferguson created the masterpiece we all love and know at the very last moment.It was quite the ride.The last three options for theme songsFischer began by explaining that Ferguson created the Office's famous theme song. He's also composed music for NCIS Los Angeles and Women's Murder Club.Kinsey stated, "He's the real thing." "We got him to be our theme song."Fischer stated, "But we almost didn’t get him,"Fischer explained that Daniels initially wanted to use a song rather than an original composition.He narrowed it down and created title sequences for all three songs. The vote was won by the popular 1977 song "Mr. Blue Sky", and it was set to become the Office's official theme song. Bob Thiele was a musician friend of his and they recorded James’s composition. They formed a band after recording it. They were called The Scrantones.
