Brooklyn-born Estelle Hedaya among those still missing in Surfside building collapse

Estelle Hedaya uses different names depending upon her audience. Stella is her shorthand, but her family and friends refer to her as Cha Cha because of her famous moves on the dance floor. She is best known online as the author of Follow the Toes, a travel and food blog.Hedaya is currently missing due to the partial collapse at Surfside's Champlain Towers South Condo. She lived in apartment 604.Mindy Beth Silverman, a close friend, said that she grew up in Brooklyn where she was dedicated to Judaism.Silverman met Hedaya through mutual friends in 1996. She said that Hedaya was always open to making memories and enjoyed meeting new people. They would have double birthday parties every year when they lived together in New York.The search for the missing people continues. These are the missing people after the Surfside condo fell.Silverman was an Aquarius, and she was a Capricorn. The friends would meet up every year to celebrate another year at a sports bar or a nice restaurant.She was always the first to arrive at any event that offered something enjoyable. She said that she was happy in her 50s and was thriving, successful, and at the peak of her life.Silverman stated that she has built an amazing life for herself over the past three years. She is surrounded by love, good relationships and a great life. She hosted Hedaya Happy Hour on Zoom during COVID-19 and chatted with friends from her terrace at the beach.Silverman stated that no one could ever say a negative word about her.She survived the New York terrorist attack on September 11, 2001 and said that the video of the collapse was very triggering. She knew only one person from Surfside, and she is hoping to see her soon again.She said that if there was ever a miracle, it would come from her.
