He said that 35 people had been rescued from their building, and that two more were pulled from the rubble.Jadallah stated that the collapse involved 55 units located in the northeast corridor of the complex, which contained 136 units.According to Miami-Dade County Commissioner Sally Heyman, 51 people were still not accounted for in units at Collins Avenue, according to officials, The New York Times reported.Heyman clarified that this did not mean that those people were gone, but that authorities hadn't been able contact them yet.Charles Burkett, Surfside Mayor, said that the condo building was "literally pancaked."Nearly 100 people were missing and search and rescue efforts were in progress.Insider has the original article.
