President Donald Trump traveled Thursday to Pennsylvania - the birthplace of his 2020 challenger - as the latest step in his effort to yank a piece of the news cycle in his direction after searing attacks night after night during the Democratic National Convention.

It was Trump's prebuttal to Biden, just hours before the vice president was set to formally accept the Democratic nomination. And it was a preview of Trump's own message to the nation, set to be delivered a week later from the White House as part of the Republican National Convention.
