As you may already know, there is now a 100% bonus on purchased Ascott Star Rewards (ASR) points made before 31 August 2020 and while I typically do not advocate locking in your travel plans (I tend to favour flexible bookings over cheaper, non-refundable rates), this is a fantastic deal as unlike majority of the loyalty programs, you do not have to use your purchased points on the BAR rate and you can use these points to offset heavily discounted rates across the Ascott portfolio.

Ascott is currently running a number of promotions and depending on the style of accommodation you like, there might just be one that will stand out for you. If you have been meaning to experience the joys of co-living, lyf Funan has a 3-night package for S$380 nett which comes with S$30 CapitaVoucher. Now, if you were to purchase ASR Points with the 100% bonus and then use them to offset the aforementioned stay, you will effectively pay only S$190 nett for 3 nights at lyf Funan - after deducing the S$30 CapitaVoucher, the stay will cost you only S$160 nett for 3 nights (seriously a steal!).

I have always wanted to check out the Ascott Raffles Place Singapore - I have stayed in the Orchard property a number of times and I quite enjoyed it (even though I don't think I have ever reviewed it on my website) - but I just never found enough motivation for it until now. While the property is quite old, the location of it is perfect if you like being in the CBD - a short stroll from Raffles Place and a short ride away from Marina Bay Sands and Gardens by the Bay. The property is currently running a Stay 3 Pay 2 room package and it works out to S$442++ (or S$520.24 after tax) for three nights. With the 100% bonus on ASR Points, I am paying only S$260.12 nett for three nights at the Ascott Raffles Place Singapore.

I am also an ASR Platinum Member (I got it for simply holding The American Express Platinum Card) and apparently I will get to enjoy a space-available room upgrade (but let's see what happens in reality) as well as priority late check-out (and early check-in). Do remember that ASR points have to be utilised within 24 months from the date of purchase but I would exercise caution against stockpiling them - buy it only if you have use for them!
