Former first lady Michelle Obama will hail Joe Biden as a "profoundly decent man" and highlight his experience under her husband's administration in her keynote speech during the first night of the Democratic National Convention.

In a half-minute excerpt of Obama's pre-recorded remarks that was released on Monday afternoon, she describes Biden as a down-to-earth politician who is uniquely prepared to lead the country out of crisis.

"He was a terrific vice president. He knows what it takes to rescue an economy, beat back a pandemic and lead our country," Obama said, seated in a living room with family pictures and a Biden for President sign in the background. "And he listens. He will tell the truth and trust science."
