When it comes to summer 2020 shoes, Katie Holmes and I are on the same page with our Birkenstocks. I've been wearing them with everything and Holmes has been wearing hers with mostly denim for walks around NYC. My favorite Birkenstock outfits tend to be ones that are simple but a bit unexpected, as opposed to the same old T-shirt and shorts. And that's why I was intrigued to see what trend Holmes just paired her go-to "ugly shoes" with.
The trend in question is a midi-length denim skirt, which we were predicting would be everywhere this spring and summer, based on how prominent they were on the runways of Celine, Givenchy, and Chloé, to name a few. But then the pandemic shook up the trends we were all predicting for this season... That said, I haven't given up on the denim midi skirt trend just yet, and even more so now that Holmes is endorsing it and how chic it makes Birkenstocks look.
