Happy Wednesday to all of our travel friends, both near and far. Here are some articles we've read from other bloggers (and other sources) that we think you may like, as well, so we're passing them along.

  • Trip reports in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic are definitely different from ones written before all this started. We've written about going to the beach and a themepark because people want to know if they'll feel safe about planning a visit. More people are starting to make their first multi-day trips so the trip reports are increasing. In the last few days, I've read about trips to the California coast, the Arkansas mountains and Colonial Williamsburg. While they all tried to find a location more favorable for social distancing, all three trips had specific challenges.

  • Way back in March (remember March?) I wrote about why I thought that the coronavirus could be worse for the travel industry than 9/11. While the initial lockdown phase was difficult (and didn't accomplish all it was supposed to, for many reasons), a case can be made that we're entering the worst time of the pandemic?

  • It's been over a year since the massive fire at Notre Dame cathedral, While there have been several ideas about how to rebuild the roof, final plans for the restoration were just announced. While the decision may surprise some, I'm totally happy with their choice.

  • When you're bored, you'll do anything to occupy the time. This occasionally will lead to coming up with a prank. I'm sure that's how someone came up with this innocent but annoying airport trick. But if you are a group of high schoolers stuck at a hotel in the middle of nowhere, you discover what else you can spell with the letters on the hotel sign (and the sign across the road while you're at it.)
