Air Canada Aeroplan has launched yet another promotion, which is valid whether you're booking a paid or award flight. With this, you can get up to 40% of miles back on award tickets, or up to 150% bonus miles on paid tickets.

Get up to 40% of miles back on awards

Air Canada Aeroplan is offering discounts on awards tickets, as follows:

• Receive 30% of miles back for economy awards

• Receive 35% of miles back for premium economy awards
t
• Receive 40% of miles back for business class awards

There are of course some terms to be aware of:

• Registration is required
t
• Tickets need to be booked between July 21 and August 4, 2020, to be eligible
t
• This promotion is valid for travel through September 30, 2020
t
• Only travel on Air Canada is eligible for this promotion, though there are no restrictions on routes
t
• The 30-40% of Aeroplan miles that will be credited back to your account will post within three to four weeks of your eligible flight
t
• This is valid for one-way or roundtrip fixed mileage and market fare flight rewards; not applicable to Star Alliance Upgrade Awards, AC Bid Upgrades, or when members use miles to pay for taxes, fees, and surcharges associated with rewards

This is potentially a great deal, especially for travel within North America. However, do keep in mind that Aeroplan has hefty fuel surcharges for travel on its own flights, so you would have to pay those.

That's not going to be a huge deal on domestic and transborder flights, but it can really add up for long haul travel.

The only real catch here is that Aeroplan does have carrier imposed surcharges when traveling on Air Canada metal, so the fees are higher than you might find on a domestic award flight within the US, for example.

I should also mention that you can always speculatively take advantage of this offer. Aeroplan has a flexible policy for rewards through August 31, 2020. Members can cancel free of charge and receive all of their Aeroplan miles back in their account, plus a full refund of any associated taxes, fees and surcharges, on the unused value of tickets.

Get up to 150% bonus miles on paid tickets

Not only is Aeroplan offering discounts on awards, but the program is also offering mileage bonuses on paid tickets:

• Receive 100% bonus miles on Economy Standard, Economy Flex, Comfort, and Economy Latitude fares

• Receive 150% bonus miles on Premium Economy and Business Class fares

Bottom line

Aeroplan has a great new promotion offering up to 40% of miles back for Air Canada award tickets, and up to 150% bonus miles for paid Air Canada tickets. The catch is that this is only valid for travel through September 30, which will be a limiting factor for many.
