Caesars Rewards Is Extending Status Through 2021

Most every major company that is travel based has extended status and other perks at this point. It has even happened in the casino industry, MGM Mlife extended status a few weeks back. They took advantage of the down time to adjust their earning year, luckily for us it didn't destroy the Hyatt and Mlife status match game. I had predicted Caesars Rewards would soon follow suit and what that could mean for us. Well that day is upon us, my casino host emailed me yesterday to let me know that Caesars Rewards is extending status through 2021. They are also reducing requirements to reach status in 2020.

UPDATE 7/15/2020: Reward credits expiration dates are being extended again until December 31, 2020. They had originally extended them until September 1st. RELATED: When Will Vegas Reopen & How It Will Look Completely Different

Caesars Rewards Status Extension Dates

Per my email 2020 Tier Status and benefits will be extended through January 31, 2022 giving customers more time to enjoy what they have earned.

That means that if you performed a status match in February of this year you should have that same status next year. It is likely you will still want to perform the status match in 2021 in order to trigger the $100 celebration dinner.

Earning Caesars Rewards Status In 2020 Adjustments

Caesars Rewards has lowered the earning levels for 2020 on top of extending any status you already have. The changes are as follows:

    t
  • Platinum: Now 4,000 Tier Credits (was 5,000 Tier Credits)
  • t
  • Diamond: Now 12,000 Tier Credits (was 15,000 Tier Credits)
  • t
  • Caesars Diamond Plus: Now 20,000 Tier Credits (was 25,000 Tier Credits)
  • t
  • Diamond Elite: Now 60,000 Tier Credits (was 75,000 Tier Credits)
  • t
  • Seven Stars: Now 125,000 Tier Credits (was 150,000 Tier Credits)

They essentially knocked 20% off which is equal to two and a half months of the year. While that may make sense when comparing how long the casinos will be closed for I don't think it will entice many to chase status later in the year. It will be more likely that people avoid casinos for 6 months etc.

Reward Credits Expiration

Reward Credits will NOT expire for six months of inactivity until September 1, 2020, at the earliest.

This is the bare minimum. People gave some good tips on how to extend these in the comments of my article, like use their shopping portal etc.

Offers

5X Tier Credit and 5X Reward Credit multiplier: Customers will receive a month long 5x Tier Credit and 5x Reward Credit multiplier promotion. Exact dates will be communicated prior to properties opening.

Casino Offers: Shortly before we reopen, we will resume sending our usual schedule of promotions and events.

Final Thoughts

This was all kind of expected. I would have liked to see the reward credits extended till the end of the year but there are ways to extend those without going to the casino. The reduction in tier credits missed the mark in my book. If they wanted to entice people to go into a less than fun environment this year they should have done more there, maybe it is a blessing in disguise though.

For those of us that play the status match game nothing really changes. If you want to get the dinner cert next year you will still need to jump through the hoops.

What do you think of these changes and Caesars Rewards extending status. Did they fall short or give you enough?
