A day doesn't go by when half our team isn't wearing at least one cupcakes and cashmere piece-and it doesn't take a great leap to figure out which side I'm usually on. I loved our clothing collection long before I started working here and, in my personal opinion, the collection has only gotten better since then (which sounds like a brag, except that the closest I get to being "involved in the design process" is screeching yaaas when Emily brings in a pattern she and our design team have been working on). One of the many perks of working here is that our team is able to select our favorite items from each collection to bring home with us. In the name of research, I recently tried on every cupcakes and cashmere piece available online to find my favorites from the fall collection. Read on for my favorite pieces, and be sure to watch my IGTV, in which I try on every single item available now (!):
1. Cupcakes and Cashmere Arianne DusterEmily usually designs at least one leopard print item per season, so to be honest, this one didn't initially catch my eye-until I tried it on, and it became my favorite piece maybe ever? The breezy fabric and slits along the side make all the difference since it moves beautifully. It's a great layering piece over jeans and a cotton dark tank, which is what I wear most of the time anyways! Note: It's thin, which is part of what I like so much about it, but it won't keep you warm!
2. Cupcakes and Cashmere Delaine Velvet CamiThis top was love at first sight, especially considering one of my favorite pieces in my closet is a black velvet camisole I bought a few years ago from J.Crew. You wouldn't initially expect a camisole to be velvet, which I think is what makes it interesting (and perfect for the holidays in sunny L.A.). I'm planning on wearing this white cami over dark skinny jeans, with a denim jacket to work and post-work plans. Easy!
3. Cupcakes and Cashmere Violette JumpsuitThis jumpsuit is something I would never normally reach for (as often as I wear pants day-to-day, I always opt for a dress for formal events). But, I love it! It has a slight drop-waist that's flattering, and the fabric is thick enough that I felt completely comfortable going braless in it.
4. Cupcakes and Cashmere Berlin JacketNo one can pull off a trench quite like Emily. Anytime she comes to the office in a trench, I'm inspired to wear one-but I always end up looking more shlubby than bloggy. Until this trench! The tapered details and plaid are so cute, it's all you need to dress up jeans and a tee.
5. Cupcakes and Cashmere Trula PantsAny pant that isn't a jean is entirely out of my comfort zone, but I loved these! They fall really nicely, miraculously didn't wrinkle at all (??), and are extremely comfortable and easy to move around in. I'm easily going to be incorporating these into my regular office wardrobe!
