Last week Stephenie Meyer released a very mysterious countdown on her website.

No one knew exactly what it was for, but some fans theorized it had something to do with Stephenie's books The Host or The Twilight Saga because both have dark, nighttime-y themes.
Now flash forward to May 4 at 8:30 a.m. ET - aka this morning - and we finally know what this countdown was for...

That's right. Midnight Sun is finally being released.

Twihards might remember that in 2008, an early draft for Midnight Sun was leaked and caused Stephenie to shelve the project indefinitely.
Midnight Sun is a retelling of the saga's first installment Twilight, only this time it's told from Edward Cullen's perspective.
And some even better news: The book's official release date is Aug. 4.
