4.5 million blue flowers are in bloom at this Japanese park and it looks like a fairy tale

We might not be turning out in droves to see the flower fields this spring, but the global crisis has not stopped flowers all around the world from blooming. And no blossoming event is more beautiful or colorful than the display of blue nemophila flowers in Japan.

At Hitachi Seaside Park, about 80 miles north of Tokyo, there are 4.5 million nemophila flowers currently blooming, and it's like something out of a fairytale.

The nemophila bloom takes place from late April to mid-May, with the blue flowers covering the 8.6 acres of the park's Miharashi no Oka Hill.

The delicate flowers, nicknamed "baby blue eyes," are round and transparent with a sky-blue coloring. The flowers lose their beautiful color toward mid-May so the best time to see them is early in the blooming season.

Unfortunately, the park was closed until further notice on April 4 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so you'll have to wait until next year to make the visit.
