Global Citizen's virtual concert is full of all-stars, but perhaps none as legendary as Sir Paul McCartney. The Beatles great appeared on One World: Together At Home tonight to sing a rendition of "Lady Madonna," the Fab Four's song about working-class women.

McCartney, sitting at a keyboard, sang the 1968 single from what we have to assume is some sort of basement recording studio (all tonight's stars and musicians are making remote appearances, as befitting the message of social distancing to flatten the coronavirus curve). McCartney began his appearance by remembering his mother, Mary McCartney, who served as a nurse during the Blitz in World War II. He compared her service in such difficult times to the many doctors and nurses who are on the front lines of the fight against the coronavirus, to keep with the war metaphor.

McCartney, who is 77 years old, still sounded pretty damn bulletproof when he sang the classic Beatles tune. Granted: no acoustic, self-recorded and subsequently streamed version of the song could match up to the iconic original track, but it's nice to hear from McCartney-and to see that he's staying healthy.

Check out Paul McCartney's performance below, and stay tuned for a night filled with tributes and videos from the world's biggest stars.
