An Air France Airbus A330-200 is grounded at Agostinho-Neto International Airport, Point-Noire, Congo, after being involved in a shooting.

The aircraft, registration F-GZCK, has been left with bullet holes in the fuselage, after firearms were used against the aircraft.

The A330 arrived in Congo yesterday around 17:15, it was parked at its stand without any passengers on-board when the incident occurred.

The aircraft was specifically tasked with bringing over 100 French citizens to their home country, as part of a global effort to rescue those stranded in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

A team of technicians has been sent to Pointe Noire on-board a Boeing 777-200 (F-GSPG), flight AF380V.

The journal Brazza News reports that the shooter was a Chief Sergeant on duty at the airport brigade. Before shooting the aircraft he took three agents hostage.

Air France confirmed the incident on Twitter:

"The flight scheduled for 10:00 has been postponed for 24 hours to allow a replacement aircraft and a crew to be transported from Paris CDG. Customers have been warned and taken care of by our local teams."
