No matter how hard I try, I can't think about booking travel right now. While all of our upcoming trips have been canceled, I have vacation time blocked later in the year that I'm hopeful we'll be able to use. Around now, I would normally be looking at flights and booking hotels. I just can't do it.

I'll give it a try. I'll pull up Google Flights and see that flights to Austin are pretty cheap when you realize that this is the price for two round trip tickets, but where are all the flights?

Only six non-stops between MCO-AUS and the only one with a decent departure time (not too early or too late) is on Spirit, and I know that's a non-starter with Sharon. I could book a flight on Delta or American with a connection but that's not appealing to lock in, even if I could change the flight for no-cost with the current waivers in place.

I guess now's not the time to think about a Texas trip. Anyway, it's still five months away and hopefully, things will be getting back to a sense of normal by then.

I'm not willing to let go of our Japan trip at the end of the year. It's the one where I'd be very disappointed if we didn't get to go. I've locked in flights in both directions except for a positioning flight home. If there was a deal, I'd book this ticket now because it's far enough out where I'm actually optimistic that trip's still going to happen.

Apparently, the airlines are thinking that way as well because they haven't dropped the prices since I looked last month.

I'd want to take either the morning Delta or Alaska flights and both of the prices listed are Basic Economy fares. Add $40 each to that price for Main Cabin seating. Award prices haven't dropped either as Delta wants 17,500 SkyMiles, and Alaska is charging 20,000 miles each for the one-way flight. I'm not willing to shell out $500+ for two one-way tickets seven months in advance.

Some people are saying that planning trips are one thing that gives them joy with all the uncertainty. For me, it's the opposite. After looking at my two possible trips and seeing that there's not anything I'd want to book before this all happened, I get no comfort from closing my browser windows and going back to cleaning up my desk and cuddling with the dog.
