Although the Slovenia Atrium House is a live-work space, its seamless integration of the two makes it hard to see where one ends an the other begins. The U-shaped dwelling is naturally divided into three wings - a main living area at the center, flanked by sleeping quarters and a workshop for a ceramic designer and artist. Wrapping around an atrium, floor-to-ceiling windows connect each wing to the outdoor space. While the inner facade in transparent, the outer shell is made from smooth concrete to block out the surroundings and directs the focus on the central courtyard. The interior is a reflection of the exterior's stark minimalism, featuring a restrained, natural palette of terrazzo floors, warm ash and oak wood, white walls. The result is a clean, tranquil atmosphere for creating works of art.
