All Las Vegas Casinos to Close For At Least 30 Days - Miles to Memories

Things continue to change at a rapid pace when it comes to the Coronavirus epidemic. As you might expect, Las Vegas will be among the hardest hit places in this country given its huge reliance on the tourism industry. While some casino operators had held hope they could remain open, that is not meant to be. They will be shut for at least 30 days by order of Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak.

New Nevada Coronavirus Closures & Restrictions

In a press conference Governor Sisolak explained the following restrictions will be in place. These restrictions include the closure of all of Nevada's casinos including those on the Las Vegas Strip.

• All casinos, restaurants, bars and other nonessential businesses will close for 30 days

• Closures are subject to extension
t
• Nonessential businesses must be closed by Wednesday 3/18/20 at Noon Pacific

• Nevadans are encouraged to stay inside, but no mandatory orders have been given

• Grocery stores, gas stations and medical offices can remain open
t
• Restaurant dining rooms will be closed, however delivery, pick-up and drive-through options can remain open

People Should Stay Home

The other day I expressed my hope that people would begin social distancing and self isolation sooner rather than later. While I know many people including myself have taken this seriously, many have not. I am glad the government is forcing all casinos and other public spaces shut down. The sooner we get this under control the sooner we can fix the damage done and try to rebuild.

Vegas and indeed the world probably won't be the same for awhile if ever.
