Railay is one of the top destinations to visit when in Thailand. With a relaxed ambiance, imposing clifftops, and beautiful pristine beaches, it's one of the best spots to spend a holiday in the country. There's plenty to see at Railay with a host of beachside activities that make this tropical haven a firm favorite among visitors.Despite Krabi province and Railay Beach having a connection, there's no road network to travel as it's made impossible due to the soaring cliffs. This gives Railay an authentic island feel with no cars found on the almost desolate peninsula. The best way to visit Krabi and Railay Beach is by taking a boat trip. Apart from arriving by boat, the sole means of getting around is on foot, which makes it a relaxed and calm location with no din of vehicles in the background.A must-do trip is the popular Four Islands Tour. The name is a misnomer, though, as there are just three spots, with each one well worth a visit. Visitors can travel by longboat to Railay, reminiscent to the boat tours to reach Phi Phi Don. The advantage of island hopping in Railay is it's minus the hordes of people that travel to Phi Phi. Despite it not being as picturesque as the Phi Phi trip, it more than compensates in terms of tranquillity and isolation unlike the crowds at Phi Phi.The first halt is to catch sight of Chicken Island from a bit of a distance. It's referred to by locals as Poda Nok Island, Kai Island, and Hua Khawan Island with all three names popularly used. One look at the place, and visitors realize why the island got its title of Chicken Island. It offers an excellent opportunity for photography, and once you arrive near the shore, it's perfect for snorkeling. While the reef is nothing spectacular, there are various varieties of fish species and clams in the area. It has a small beach section where visitors can swim out to enjoy a bit of peace and quiet. The next stopover isn't one, but two islands – Tup Island and Koh Mawr. While both are two separate islands, they can be linked by a narrow sliver of sand during low tide, or become two separate islands when there's high tide. It's best to try to make the trip when the tide is out to enjoy a visit to both places. Since trees are blocking the views at the top, it's best to ascend to the summit of Tup Island to catch a unique view around. If you're lucky and arrive at low tide, head over to Koh Mawr. Just make sure to get back before the tide rolls in unless you fancy a swim back. Tup Island is a tropical haven and an ideal location to spend a few blissful hours on the beach in solitude. The last and final stop is Poda Island. It's ideal for lazing on the beach, basking in the warm sunshine, enjoying a bit of snorkeling, or just explore the surrounding areas on foot. One of the highlights of visiting Poda Island is the massive limestone cliff that appears to rise from the floor of the ocean.
