Walmart still has these household essentials in stock

The recent outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19) has many of us rushing to the stores and ordering some household essentials we may be low on. But it currently feels like finding anything-from toilet paper to hand sanitizer-is a rarity. Thankfully, your can still find some of these disinfecting products that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommend at Walmart-both in stores and online. But take note that its stock is continuing to dwindle.

Although these items might not be your preferred brand of toilet paper, paper towels, and cleaning wipes, Walmart's website indicates whether or not your local store has these items in stock. In select locations, you also have the option to order certain items online and pick them up in store or have your groceries delivered.

We scoured Walmart's site to find the best cleaning products and household essentials still available. We'll continue to update this list as items sell out.

1. Hand soap

According to the CDC, washing your hands for at least 20 seconds is the most effective way to protect yourself from coronavirus. For that you'll need some hand soap and warm water. There is still plenty of hand soap available at Walmart, if you're low in stock from washing your hands more often than usual.

2. Toilet Paper

Toilet paper is one of those things that people stock up on during national disasters and other emergencies-and the coronavirus outbreak is no different. Our favorite toilet paper, Charmin Ultra Soft, isn't available currently, but there are still other brands of TP and flushable wipes for sale at Walmart.

3. Ingredients for DIY hand sanitizer

Hand sanitizer is hard to find at most retailers right now, including Walmart. But the CDC says soap and water is more effective than hand sanitizer, and it's in stock and readily available. If you want some for when soap isn't available, you can also make your own hand sanitizer. Ingredients for this include isopropyl alcohol (99% rubbing alcohol) and aloe vera gel, which are both still available at Walmart.

4. Tissues

According to the CDC, coronavirus symptoms include a dry cough, fever, and shortness of breath. But you may want some tissues for when you run into a runny nose from allergies or the cold. Puffs Ultra Soft earned its place as the best tissues we've ever tested, but you can other brands for sale at Walmart.

5. Paper Towels

Paper towels are not only essential at all times, but they're especially useful during times of sickness. You can use them with disinfectant spray, they're disposable, so you can toss out any germs with it. The best paper towels, in our expert opinion, are Bounty Select-A-Size. You can find it as well as other paper towel brands at Walmart.

6. Trash bags

To dispose of all your various cleaning products, tissues, and paper towels, you're going to need some trash bags. In fact, the CDC recommends, dedicating a lined trash bag for anyone impacted by coronavirus as well as using gloves when removing garbage bags and disposing trash. 7. Dish Soap

Dish soap is essential at all times, but it can be particularly useful during the coronavirus outbreak. In fact, the CDC recommends that those who are affected by the coronavirus should not share dishes, drinking glasses, cups, or utensils. After these dishes have been used, they should be washed thoroughly with soap and water to prevent. We found that Dawn Ultra is the best dish soap out there because it cuts through grease and is a great disinfectant.

8. Laundry detergent

Laundry detergent is always important, especially as the coronavirus spreads across the country and the American Red Cross recommends having it in stock. Our top pick fo laundry detergent is Persil ProClean Liquid Laundry Detergent. It's the best at getting rid of stains and will cleanse your clothes thoroughly. You can still grab it, as well as a few other detergents at Walmart.
