Martin Scorsese Says Cinemas Are Being

It would seem that Martin Scorsese has few shits to give in regards to the controversy sparked by his anti- Marvel comments. During a press conference this weekend, Scorsese doubled-down on his feelings regarding superhero movies, stating one again that they are "not cinema" and that the industry shouldn't "be invaded" by them, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Scorsese's comments were made during Saturday's BFI London Film Festival. He said that "theaters have become amusement parks," and that vibe "shouldn't invade everything else in that sense. We need cinemas to step up and show films that are narrative films."

He continued, "That is fine and good for those who enjoy that type of film and, by the way, knowing what goes into them now, I admire what they do. It's not my kind of thing, it simply is not. It's creating another kind of audience that thinks cinema is that."

The director's initial comments arrived in an interview with Empire Magazine and sparked outrage and commentary from fans and Marvel stars alike. Robert Downey Jr. and Samuel L. Jackson, who starred as Iron Man and Nick Fury respectively, both weighed in on the debate, as did Guardians of the Galaxy franchise director James Gunn.
