It may come as a surprise that Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland, has a vibrant night scene that brings people in from all over the world. With so many things to do after 5:00 pm, it's no surprise that everyone wants a chance to witness the nightlife in Iceland firsthand.
The Northern Lights are Iceland's crown jewel and is the #1 thing to see in the evening. The best chance of seeing them is between the months of September & March. However, if there is a clear night sky, there is a chance to see them outside those dates. The locals are more than happy to provide tips on when and where to view the elusive northern lights.

They have a cafe in the front which is the perfect place to sit and talk with newly found friends.
Harpa Concert Hall // Take a stroll past this breathtaking building to admire the beautiful architecture and if you're lucky, there may even be a world-class concert you can attend during your stay.
Hallgrimskirkja Church // Located in the heart of the city, this historic church is one of Reykjavik's most popular landmarks. With it's impressive 245 foots steeple, it can't be missed during your time exploring. In the evening the church is lite up, welcoming all visitors near and far to stop and have a look.
Rainbow Road // On the way to dinner at one of Reykjavik's renowned restaurants or pubs, spend some time walking down the beautifully designed rainbow road that looks like something out of Wizard of Oz. It's the perfect photo op and the downtown area has some amazing one-of-a-kind shops nearby.
Enjoy the night downtown // As the rest of the city is getting ready to go to bed, the night has just begun in downtown Reykjavik. Stop by Húrra to listen to the best live music on the island, or if you're looking to stay out into the late hours of the evening, Gaukurinn is the perfect spot-conveniently located in the heart of the city.
