Apple Says WWDC 2020 Will Be Online-Only Due to Coronavirus

Apple has announced that this year's Worldwide Developers Conference will be held exclusively online due to the spread of coronavirus. The event, which is scheduled to take place in June, will consist of traditional keynote announcements and developer sessions, in addition to a new online experience.

Apple's marketing chief, Phil Schiller, revealed that WWDC 2020 has been moved online in light of the current health situation. He also added that event specifics will be shared in the coming weeks.

To make up for the loss of business the conference brings to San Jose each year, Apple has decided to donate $1 million to organizations in the city.

According to insiders, Apple is expected to introduce new iMessage features, Apple Watch updates, a new fitness app, and more during WWDC 2020.

Apple isn't the only tech company who has decided to alter its upcoming developer conference. Google, Facebook, and Microsoft have each opted to cancel the in-person segments of forthcoming events as well.
