There was a lot of excitement when it was announced that Wear OS 3 would be created by the two companies. There was a lot of uncertainty and confusion after that. Many users were left wondering which devices would be eligible to upgrade to the new platform due to the fact that many of the bestAndroid watches rely on Wear OS.

If you're a Wear OS watch owner, you're probably worried about the device's future. If you're interested in what Wear OS 3 has to offer, this is even truer. Some Wear OS watches will be eligible for the upgrade. If you want to buy a watch that won't be eligible to upgrade to Wear OS 3, you'll want to figure this out first.

One year later, the only options on the platform are the two watches that are currently on the market. According to analysts, a shift is happening in the market for Wearables, but at the moment, it's not happening. Wear OS sales were close to those of the Apple Watch in the third quarter of 2021. There is still time to increase the platform even higher, but there is an opportunity for that to happen. Here are all the watches that are being updated.

During the hardware portion of the I/O 2022 keynote, there was an official debut of the first smartwatches from the company. The Pixel Watch was officially introduced following some rather-extensive leaks.

There isn't much information about the upcoming watch, but it will have a refreshedUI and rich notifications. It will have a dedicated app that can be accessed from your watch face.

The new version of Wear OS 3 will allow for a built-in Home app. There is no dedicated application for controlling your smart home accessories. When the Wear OS 3 software is released, we don't know if any of the new applications will arrive for other Wear OS 3 watches.

We wanted to know what the future held for the Wear OS 3 platform and what it meant for some of the best watches on the market today. Since I/O 2021 ended, we have had a lot of the same questions that we had before, and unfortunately, that didn't happen at all.

The Wear OS partners that were shown on a slide during the keynote were not the only ones. There are now three times as many active devices on the Wear OS platform as there were at this time last year, according to the company.

Keep an eye out for new watches from Samsung, Fossil, Montblanc, and more starting this summer.

It comes as no surprise given the popularity of the watch and the fact that we have seen the latest flagships from the company. It makes sense to pair a new phone with a new watch. While also increasing the Wear OS market share at the same time.

Things were kept close to the vest instead of being clear. There are a number of companies that are expected to launch new watches in the near future.

  • Fossil
  • Montblanc
  • Michael Kors
  • TAG Heuer
  • Hublot
  • Mobvoi
  • Diesel
  • Skagen
  • Samsung

We don't know what's going to happen with the older watches The only thing we can do is assume and surmise, which really doesn't do anyone any good until they finally speak up.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Series

The first devices to run Wear OS 3 are theGalaxy watch 4 This might not be the best example of what to expect from the platform as a whole. This is a SAMSUNG watch above all others. The new models aren't very different from the previous ones. As you scroll through the menus, you may see the ghost of the OS.

You can always make certain changes to your watch to make it look and act like a Wear OS watch. SAMSUNG is still at the center of these Wearables The main difference between Tizen users and others is the presence of pre-installed apps.

The main difference that Tizen users will notice is the presence of preloaded Google apps.

The new models aren't compatible with Apple's mobile operating system. It is not possible for iPhone users to use the GALAXY WATCH 4 and GALAXY WATCH 5. In the future, no one knows if that will change.

One group of users that can breathe a sigh of relief is anyone who currently owns or plans to purchase one of the newest watches. There are a few lucky models that will be eligible for the Wear OS 3 update, but we don't know when that will happen.

The Wear OS 3 update will be included in the new models with the Snapdragon Wear 4100 chip. During the second half of the year, the earliest possible roll out was expected. There is no sign of Wear OS 3 for any of the most recent TicWatch watches. We'll have to wait and see if this actually comes to fruition, but it's believed that users who purchased these watches won't be stuck with the old platform indefinitely. Mobvoi owners will not be as lucky.

Fossil Gen 6 smartwatches

Fossil made an announcement regarding the launch of the new Gen 6 models when the new products were announced by the other companies. Thanks to a Wear OS 3 update that arrived in October 2022, the Fossil Gen 6 and Skagen Falster 6 are now available.

Anyone who owns an existing Fossil watch that isn't in the Gen 6 lineup is missing. If you like the sound of owning a wristwatch with the new Wear OS 3 platform, you should not buy an older model. If you want a watch with Wear OS 3, you'll have to consider these watches.

 TAG Heuer

The new TAG Heuer watch was the Wear OS watch. It comes at a steep price but is powered by the same chip as the others. The 42mm option costs an eye-watering $1,800, which is quite a price to pay for a watch that can't yet be upgraded to the latest version of Wear OS.

Wear OS 3 will be arriving for this luxury watch at some point this year, according to the company. It is an example of how the makers of watches are stuck in a holding pattern. The Wear OS 2.34 is what you would expect from a last-gen Wearable.

Who's getting left behind?

It's possible that your watch is one of the devices left behind. It's disappointing for people who just recently purchased a Wearable such as the SAMSUNG GALAXY WATCH 3 The other disappointment is that. The previous models of the watch are not eligible.

The previous Galaxy Watch models will continue to run Tizen OS and receive updates for some time.

The other models are wondering what this means. The previous models of the watch will get updates for a while. After the product launch, we will continue to provide at least three years of software support for customers who already own the Tizen OS-basedGalaxy smartwatch.

It depends on when your product was released. Reviewing the different devices and their respective launch dates will allow you to know when your watch will stop getting updates.

Anyone who owns an existing Fossil watch such as the Fossil Gen 5E is in a similar situation. Fossil's new generation of watches would be the only ones that would run Wear OS 3.

Anyone who bought a Fossil Gen 5E won't have the option to update to Wear OS 3.

Fossil's Gen 6 models have received the Wear OS 3 update, but the Gen 5 models and earlier are not as lucky. Anyone who bought a Fossil Gen 5E will not be able to update to Wear OS 3.

Playing the waiting game

The Wear OS 3 update for some watches is still pending. If you don't want to wait any longer, you might be better off going for the Fossil's Gen 6 Wellness Edition. Wear OS 3 out of the box is offered by all of these.

Most people think this is a no-brainer decision. It will be necessary for you to reset your watch to the way it was before. A factory reset is when you wipe your watch and start over.

The system upgrade will be offered on an opt in basis for eligible devices because not everyone will be willing to perform a factory reset. Are you going to update your watch to wear OS 3?
