According to Jake Trotter, Joe Woods was fired by the ClevelandBrowns on Monday morning after three seasons on the job.
The San Francisco 49ers' defensive backs coach and passing game coordinators, Woods, was hired as the DC by Kevin Stefanski after he was hired as the head coach of the Cleveland Indians.
It was reported on Sunday that Woods had been fired after the loss to Pittsburgh. Cleveland finished the year with a 7th place finish.
Cleveland reached the playoffs for the first time since 2002 despite ranking 17th in total defense and 21st in scoring defense in Woods' first season.
The unit improved to fifth in total defense and 13th in scoring defense.
There were question marks surrounding the offense entering the campaign, but there were high expectations for the defense.
The Woods' side of the ball was ranked 14th in total yards allowed and 20th in points allowed.

Jadeveon Clowney, the former No. 1 pick in the draft, was sent home from the team before the season finale because he didn't play well.
Clowney said in an interview with Cleveland.com that he was "95 percent sure" he wouldn't re-sign with the team.
Clowney said that he believed the Browns were too focused on defense and not enough on winning.
